Hello Barbelles! (See what I did there?)
The older I get, the more I look forward to fall…the leaves change, pumpkins adorn every doorstep and the air has a chill. I happen to love the crisp breeze, but my skin…not so much.
By mid October it’s time to retire my summer skin care routine and bring in reinforcements. Here are my favorite products to keep my skin healthy and supple all year:
Face:
I skip moisturizer all summer and then double up all through the winter. My secret is Younique’s Divine Daily Moisturizer . I can’t stand greasy moisturizers! Divine absorbs quickly leaving your skin soft, supple and residue free. I mix a dab with my liquid foundation and apply it like a bb cream in the morning, and slather on another layer before bed.
Hands/Feet:
I also find that my hands take a beating year round, but especially when the air gets cooler. I have thick callouses on the insides of my palms from gripping weights in the gym; they may not be “pretty” but they are necessary to protect my skin. As soon as the air starts to turn, however, they dry up and become pretty nasty. That’s when I reach for my tried and true Bag Balm. This was a staple in my house as a kid…we had the BIG tin which somehow never seemed to run out. Any time we had a cut, scrape or dry patch, my mom was there to slather on the BB. By morning whatever the issue, it was good as new. I keep a little on hand, no pun intended, for my dry skin. Rub some on your feet and put on socks before bed to stave off scaly heels in the winter.
All Over:
Paul has a little bit of eczema here and there and SWEARS by the Melaleuca Renew Intensive Skin Therapy Lotion. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth the investment. A little dollop of this lotion leaves your skin feeling like velvet. It’s seriously amazing. This brand also makes a body wash which would be great addition to your routine.
